Tai Chi In The Workplace

Everybody now knows that stress is hazardous to your health and is the cause of most if not all of today's health problems, but did you know that stress is also becoming a major corporate problem?

Did you know, for example that stress is now the major cause of illness and employee absenteeism in the country today and costs the UK over £4 billion every year!

The ancient Chinese art of Tai Chi is based upon the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and is an excellent way to maintain good health and greatly reduce stress levels. In China Tai Chi is the official national health exercise and millions of workers perform the art at regular intervals daily.

As well as reducing employee stress levels and absentee costs to your organisation, Tai Chi can also have a positive effect on your business by increasing employee performance and productivity, increasing staff retention and of course by employing a happy, positive workforce it also means more customer satisfaction, an improved corporate image and a better all round reputation for your company.


Like acupuncture Tai Chi is moving away from its image of being 'new age' or 'alternative' and is being taken more and more seriously by Western medical opinion. An increasing amount of studies are now being performed and more and more health benefits are being proven. It is our opinion that Tai Chi's fame will continue to grow and will play a major part of health care in the future. We have many students enrolled who first came to our classes because a doctor or other medical professional has recommended the art.

Tai Chi is very versatile and can easily be adapted to meet the specific needs of any busy workforce. Most of the gentle movements are easy to learn and are designed to gently stretch and exercise the body, refresh the mind and increase energy levels. Correct posture and deep relaxed breathing techniques are taught to help combat the physical tension resulting from long hours sitting at a desk. Tai Chi also includes special exercises for the eyes that can be invaluable for those who stare at computer screens for long periods. Elements of the exercises once learnt, can be taken away and practiced whilst sitting at a desk enabling your workforce to effectively manage their own stress levels as and when they need to.

Classes can be arranged at any time that suits you and we can come to you and teach at your premises for your convenience. All that is needed is a small working space. As it is a gentle low-impact exercise system your workforce won't even need to change or shower afterwards and any clothing can be worn. Classes are specially designed to last for 15 minutes, 45 minutes or 60 minutes.
